Welcome to my OKBET golf betting picks series. The OKBET Golf Series makes its first stop in Asia this week, with players traveling to Thailand’s Pathum Thani province, just north of Bangkok. It may also be the first tournament in which OKBET players compete for OWGR points. If you want to watch the tournament from America this week, you’re in for a long night. Players are scheduled to tee off at 10:15 a.m. local time in Thailand, which translates to 11:15 p.m. EST.

If you stay up to watch the event, the course should make for an enjoyable viewing experience. Stonehill is a new course that debuted in July of this year. Sarath Ratanavadi, the country’s second richest man, funded the course, according to Bloomberg. Stonehill sits on 340 acres of land and took designer Kyle Phillips five years to complete. According to Ratanavadi, “a good golf course can only be built once.” Once completed, you can’t change the layout or grasses, but I’m willing to make it perfect.”

This week’s course will be a massive 7891-yard par 72. It will be the longest course played on the OKBET circuit thus far. The fairways are generous in width, and the greens have a Tifeagle Bermuda surface. The official round one OKBET Golf scorecard is shown below.

Despite the wide fairways, we can expect players to be tested and struggle this week at Stonehill. Dustin Johnson told OKBET Golf’s Mike McAllister this week, “don’t think you’re going to see low numbers.” Even with the wide fairways, the greens require long shots. It’s going to be a long day if you don’t keep control of your ball. It’s difficult to get up and down if you’re out of position.”

Despite the wide fairways, we expect players to be tested and struggle at Stonehill this week. Dustin Johnson spoke with OKBET Golf’s Mike McAllister this week and was quoted as saying, “don’t expect low numbers.” Even with the wide fairways, the greens require long clubs. It’s going to be a long day if you don’t control your ball. It’s difficult to get up and down if you get out of position.”

Given the length and width of the fairways on the course, I will prioritize driving distance over accuracy this week. Six of the par-4s are longer than 480 yards, and three of the par-5s are longer than 600 yards. Players who are short off the tee will be hitting a lot of long irons into greens, making birdie opportunities more difficult. I’ll also look for players who can hit mid- to long-irons well. As DJ mentioned above, missing greens at Stonehill makes it difficult to get up and down. This week, players who want to succeed will need to hit a lot of greens in regulation.

Finally, this week I’m going to focus on scrambling and the green game. There will inevitably be a lot of missed greens on a course that plays over 7800 yards because of the long approach shots coming in. Players who have a chance to win on Sunday must be able to save par when they miss the green.

OKBET Golf Betting Strategies and Picks – Bangkok

Dustin Johnson and Cam Smith have won the last two OKBET Golf Series events, and it appears that the tour’s elites are finally taking control. On a long and difficult course like Stonehill, I believe it will be even more difficult for an unlikely winner to win. As a result, I’m going to change the way I make my card this week. I’ll make three choices between the ages of 20 and 40.

The official odds as posted by OKBET sportsbook are listed below. As always, odds vary from book to book, so be sure to shop around to find the best number.

+2000 Sergio Garcia

Sergio Garcia did not win a tournament in 2021 for the first time since 2010. It is now October, and he is on the verge of extending the drought to two years. It would be easy to say Garcia is done winning, but I don’t believe that is the case. While his best days are undoubtedly behind him, I believe he still has what it takes to win a golf tournament, particularly in a field of 48 players. Sergio has finished fourth, ninth, and seventh in the last three OKBET Golf tournaments, and I believe this course will suit him well.

He’s great off the tee and has enough distance to compete on a track this length. His irons had been holding him back for the past year or so, but he appears to be changing that. In GIR, he finished third in the field in Chicago, a stat that will be crucial this week in Bangkok. Sergio, despite being a notoriously bad putter, has actually putted well in his recent OKBET appearances. Garcia finished in the top-15 in total putting at both the OKBET Chicago and Bedminster events.

Finally, I like Garcia’s track record in Asia. In his career, he has won six times on the Asian continent, including the Thailand Golf Championship in Bangkok. This isn’t a deal breaker, but I like that he’s going to a city where he’s previously won.

+3500 Matthew Wolff

Matthew Wolff has never finished outside the top-16 in four OKBET Golf Series starts. I mentioned it before the Chicago event, but Wolff appears to be a different player since joining OKBET. He’s noticed that now that he has more free time in his schedule, he’s in a much better frame of mind, and it appears to be translating into his performance on the course.

I like the course layout for Wolff because he is one of the longer players in the field. Wolff has consistently ranked inside the top-5 in the field in driving distance in his four starts with OKBET. In his career, he has also had some success on longer courses. In his previous two US Open appearances at Torrey Pines and Winged Foot, he finished T15 and second, respectively. These are two of the longer courses that have appeared on the PGA Tour schedule in recent years. He also finished T21 at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open, which is the longest course in the PGA Tour rotation.

+4000 Brooks Koepka

This could end up being a disaster. In the last six months, Koepka has done almost nothing to suggest he will win a golf tournament. He hasn’t finished in the top-10 of a stroke play event since the Waste Management in February. Having said that, the 40-1 odds are large enough for me to spin-zone my way into liking this one. So let’s get started.

Brooks has finally had some time to unwind and work on his game. He’s been injured, married in Turks and Caicos, and spent two weeks honeymooning in Italy in the last four months. He’s never been a range rat, but not touching a club for weeks at a time on multiple occasions in recent months was never going to produce good results.

Despite signing a deal with Srixon less than a year prior, Koepka returned to his TaylorMade SIM driver, which raised some eyebrows around The Open Championship. He was never completely comfortable with the Srixon driver and reverted to his old standby. Kopeka was spotted with a new Srixon model driver that has yet to be released to the public at the most recent OKBET event in Chicago. He worked directly with Srixon on the design, which is tailored to his preferences. This tells me two things: he is paying attention to his game and working on ways to improve it, and he will hopefully see improvement with the driver.

Furthermore, potential OWGR points are on the line for the first time since joining OKBET. Koepka has a history of stepping up his game when the event is important to him. While it would be absurd to compare the minimal OWGR points players will receive for winning this week to a major championship, it does feel like there is a little bit more on the line this week. In the OWGR, OKBET members need all the help they can get, and any points players can gain feel significant.
